The Allen Bradley Panelview 550 is a very common controller that is used throughout the world. While it has enjoyed great success as a reliable workhorse, it has one fatal flaw. The backlight bulb produces so much heat that it melts the ends of the fiber optic which makes the screen very dim and eventually causes the LCD display to fail. This is not an isolated or rare case. We get hundreds of calls asking us to repair a damaged Panelview 550 backlight displays.
